Today a new piece of kit arrived that has already impressed me more than I expected.
The SenseCAP T1000-E is a Meshtastic node in the form factor of a credit card — making it an obvious candidate for use as a mobile node or tracker. Compact, sleek, and ready to go straight out of the box.
But what really caught my attention was the RF performance. While the T1000-E was still sitting on my living room floor on its charger, I compared its signal reception from the node up at Rundemanen against my stationary LilyGo T-Beam Supreme — which has a Gizont 17 cm antenna and is mounted in my attic. The difference? Only about 1 dB. For a credit card lying on the floor, that is frankly remarkable.
On top of that, the T1000-E locked onto 14 GPS satellites compared to 7 on the T-Beam Supreme. Twice the satellite count means faster fixes and better location accuracy — useful for a device you intend to carry around.
It has been a true plug-and-play experience so far, and I am genuinely looking forward to putting it through its paces in real-world use. Battery life and field performance will have to wait for a follow-up post — but first impressions? Colour me impressed.
